Congress party created History in Goa

BJP may claim itself to a party with difference, but in reality, it is the Congress party in Goa has really proved it self a party with difference. its the first time in the  history of Indian politics  when any National political party has withdraw its candidate from a bye-poll election.

Congress,  a major opposition party in State would have tried hard to secure  two digit total of seats  in the 40 member Goa state assembly. however, The present decisions  of Congress has resulted in victory of BJP candidate unopposed, as a apart from congress candidate independent candidate Ramakant Borkar has also withdraw his candidature.

Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Alina Saldhana has been declared as unopposed elected candidate in the Cortalim by-poll by the elections commission of India informed joint electoral officer of Goa Narayan Navti on Monday

the political development has stamped the congress party as boneless, as first time any national party has decided to run away from a by-poll.

Reacting sharply to the withdrawal of congress candidate Raymond De Sa’s nomination papers for Cortalim by-polls, Dabolim MLA and former Cortalim Mla Mauvin Gudinho on Monday lashed out at the internal politics within his own party. He informed that he had refused the offer to become campaign chief for the bye-polls due to the party’s internal politics.

Where as Chief minister Manohar parrikar expressed his happiness over the political development. However Parrikar made clarified that the party has not tried to convince any candidate for withdrawal,  the party was confident of Alina Saldhana's victory in Cortalim, as two heavyweight Goan politicians  Churchill Alemao and Mickey Pacheco were out of picture.

With GVP’s full support to the BJP-led government, the strength of the ruling side in the legislative assembly has gone to 27. (BJP – 20, MGP -3, GVP -2, And 2 Independent).  The chief minister also stated that the GVP has decided to support BJP candidate alina Saldanha  in the Cortalim bye-poll, informed chief minister Manohar Parrikar to media persons on Wednesday in Panaji.

Among the dignitaries present at the media interaction was GVP’s Nuvem MLA Francisco Xavier Pacheco, BJP state president Laxmikant Parsekar,  urban development minister Francis D’Souza, power minister Milind Naik and others.

Cortalim bye-Poll

Cortalim bye-Poll will make BJP to 21 or congress to double digit? it will give a chance to regional party or independent candidate? answer depends on People of Cortalim constituency.

Alina Saldanha has filed her nomination on Monday as a candidate of the Bharatiya Janata  party for Cortalim Bye-poll in the presence of chief minister Manohar Parrikar, power minister Milind Naik and other party leaders.

The election will be held on the 2nd of June 2nd and the last date for filing nominations is fixed 16th May.

It may be recalled that the Cortalim assembly seat fell vacant after the sudden death of MLA Matanhy Saldanha who died of cardiac arrest on the 21st of March. The Bharatiya Janata party confirmed Alina Saldanha’s candidature on Sunday.

After filing her nomination, Alina Saldanha stated that she would definitely live up to the expectations of her husband and that the issues pertaining to Cortalim constituency would be taken up by her on priority.

While on other side of the battle field Major opposition Party (With only 9 MLA’s) is yet not able to decide its candidate. The heavy weight politician and losing candidate in Navelim Constituency Mr. Churchill Alemao is also trying hard to get party ticket.

But congress is yet to open its card. Congress spokes person Jitendra Deshprabhu said, on Monday that party will soon declare its candidates and the list of probable candidates it already sent to Highcommand.

Here it is important to mention that the Jitendra Deshprabhu has asked the people to forgive the Congress party for alienating them in the past and stated that the party would reach out to like-minded parties to support them in their endeavor to safeguard secularism in the state.

Congress party, the oldest Indian Political party has continued its tradition of using Secularism word for election. The congress party hardly had fought without it’s so called secularism issue.

The party had also tried hard to use secularism issue in recently held assembly election, but people of Goa prefer change the political scenario in the state.

Beside BJP and Congress it would important to see the role of UGDP and Goa vikas Party who’s candidate in last election stood on 2nd and 3rd position, in which congress candidate was trailing on 4th position.
