BJP embraced GVP

The state which is known for political instability witnessed constructive political change on Wednesday 16 May.

Goa vikas party supremo Francisco Xavier Pacheco who has supported the BJP-led Government from day1 , has now decided to Join the government and the BJP led Govt has now also accepted  the official support of the GVP. Making GVP mla’s a part of ruling front.

With GVP’s full support to the BJP-led government, the strength of the ruling side in the legislative assembly has gone to 27. (BJP – 20, MGP -3, GVP -2, And 2 Independent).  The chief minister also stated that the GVP has decided to support BJP candidate alina Saldanha  in the Cortalim bye-poll, informed chief minister Manohar Parrikar to media persons on Wednesday in Panaji.

Among the dignitaries present at the media interaction was GVP’s Nuvem MLA Francisco Xavier Pacheco, BJP state president Laxmikant Parsekar,  urban development minister Francis D’Souza, power minister Milind Naik and others.

Pacheco who has recently express his disappointed with some of the CM’s recent decisions, among them the new airport at Mopa, on Wednesday stated that his party would not be fielding a candidate in Cortalim bye election. He also stated that positive and fruitful discussions had been held between the GVP and BJP over key issues, including the medium of instruction issue and the expansion of Dabolim airport.

The congress has already declared Raymond D'sa as their candidate for Cortalim Bye-poll to be held on 4th June. while BJP candidate Alina is in battle with support of BJP, MGP, and GVP. It would be interesting to See if BJP will retain the sit, or Congress will make their figure to double digit.
